My Story... from BriAnn's point of view...

Every wedding website has a story! We couldn't possibly be complete without a story!! But ours is so long... afterall, our wedding date (February 28, 2012) is actually also our SIX YEAR anniversary! We're a 1/2 a dozen years into this thing and just now, ahem - finally, getting married! So the story is lengthy, it's a good one, kind of embarassing, but it's ours. From the top...

Ryan moved to Denver in March of 2005 to join his best buddy Chad working at a company called Aimco. Ryan moved just a few days after his 21st birthday and made the trek to Colorado in (I've heard the story a million times) a record 15 hours from Illinois to Denver. Bless his mom for being his passenger. I moved to Denver in September of 2005, just four months after I graduated high school. I had big plans of moving with a friend (I had actually tried to con four of my friends into moving with me, but all of them had other plans and other states to go to). I ended up at the Art Institute of Colorado's student housing apartments. I found a few friends and had some fun times. For my birthday my great friend and bridesmaid, Hilla, came to Denver and spent a few days on my couch. During those few hours that she was there and I had to go to school she set me up with a good ol' fashion MySpace account so we could all stay in touch. Oh, MySpace. Well, thanks Hilla, cause after she left to go back to Salt Lake I had more new "friends" than I knew what to do! It seemed that anyone in Denver could be friends just for living in Denver. I was creeped out! Then this guy who had a blurry profile picture of him standing next to a tree invited me to be his friend...

I'm not sure what convinced me that any of the following scenario was a good idea, but I guess I was young and stupid! I had just returned from my Christmas Break in Salt Lake, had a great time with all my friends and was really missing my family. One night, I was so bored, I was online and Ryan asked me if I wanted to go out to a movie or something. So... I said, sure, why not, I needed new friends anyways! This came two days after dropping my cell phone in a sink full of water. I had no cell phone and I didn't tell anyone (oh, God, I was so embarassed!) that I was going on a "date" with a guy from MySpace - one that I had never met and didn't know! So we met at a movie theatre on I-25 and Colorado Boulevard. I went in a big chunky beige sweater and cowboy boots and he stood there wearing jeans and a faded black White Sox sweatshirt. I was so nervous! There wasn't another movie playing for a few hours so we bought our tickets and went to lunch at Panera near my school and I showed him my neighborhood and he drove me around his neighborhood in Southeast Denver where I hadn't ventured on my own yet. Surprisingly, I remember me not talking much. And he talked a lot! ha!~

We saw the movie, and then I went home mortified that I had actually just gone on a date with someone from MySpace. It's just silly now, because when I think about the embarassment it doesn't bother me as much as thinking about not taking a big chance and missing out on the last six years.

Luckily, just a few weeks later, I was getting ready to move out of the student housing apartments and didn't have a clue who to call for help. From our many conversations I knew that Ryan had a friend. And the friend had a truck (thanks, Chad!) so I called him and asked if he would help me move. I'm pretty sure he jumped at the opportunity. I got to know him more then and we became great friends. I guess that's where it all started. He was the friend I was looking for when I felt homesick, and alone in a new life. Once I found him I realized I wasn't missing anything else.
